What is a treatment pitch?
A treatment pitch is a presentation to the music producer for the ideas you have for a music video.

Song Lyrics

This is the lyrics for our chosen song Changing- Sigma ft Paloma Faith. We have picked out significant sections which gave us ideas for our final music video. 

One line that sparked our idea was 'i won't live my life through you' we thought this line meant that she wants to live her own life and break free from something. We then decided that we wanted to have a narrative video showing a 'dark past' to her to having 'changed', as the lyrics say, to a much happier, positive present life. 

However we realised that we had to think of a catalyst to this 'change'. We brainstormed a few ideas:

Genre

Our chosen song is Paloma Faith - Changing which categorizes as the pop genre. Music videos of this genre follow the conventions of:

-Usually being in a party/club environment
-Alcohol is often used
-Recognised brands of clothing
-Expensive cars/houses
-Establishing shots and close ups are often used to show wealth.
- Attractive women
-They don't often follow a narrative
- The artist is usually involved.

We may use some of these conventions to keep in the theme of the pop song however we might go against some of the convention to make our video current and new.

Concept idea (3)

So, we thought of another possible idea for our music video which we are all very enthusiastic about!

We thought of having two young girls of opposite personality; one being very academic and inexperienced and the other being  the careless, 'too cool for school' girl. We wanted to show the differences between their personalities by having parallels in their lives and the way they are handled by the two. However by the end we wanted to show that they've found themselves a bit more and changed to become quite similar to one and other.

The song we thought would be perfect for this concept is Paloma Faith- Changing as the lyrics correspond perfectly with this concept and also the beat of the song gives us the opportunity to be creative whilst editing.

Concept (2) Summer Inspired

Mr. Probz- Waves has been a popular song this summer and has a music video that reflects those summer vibes. The video has a narrative structure in which a boy and a girl supposedly in a relationship are having fun on holiday. However it also has a two worlds story line which is also common in many music videos I have watched. I think this is a good music video for a song popular for the summer months when people are also looking to have fun. This is a good strategy as it will make people want to watch it over and over. This is also the case with many other 'summer anthems' such as Duke Demont- I Got You.

This video gave me inspiration for an idea as me and my friend along with family went on a long summer holiday this year. As it was our first time away together we decided to take loads of videos to make sure it is remembered. I thought that with all the footage we have accumulated over our 5 week holiday that some maybe ideal to use for a real good summer music video. Especially as we were using a GoPro 3+ camera from which we got amazing under water footage. This is one of many videos we made for our instagram accounts. They can only be 15seconds long so this is only a very small amount of the footage we have.

   

However my group disagreed and thought that working everything around this footage would be quite difficult.

Concept idea (1)

The concept of the Vance Joy- Riptide music video really appealed to us. The way in which each lyric has a corresponding visual we thought was very clever and allowed for comical elements. This makes it very watchable which is an important aspect to consider. We thought about using this concept in our video with a different song. However as good as it sounds on paper we thought wouldn't be parallel to the actual footage and thought with us doing it there was a risk of it looking amateur which is something we are not happy to go forward with.
